Sometimes we meet clients that are in need of air conditioning or heating repair we come to a a question as to whether it pays to repair their A/C or heating system or replace to a new unit. The answer to this question depends on a few things, like the cost of the repair, the cost of a new unit, the client’s budget, the system’s age, the chance of repairing the system well as to how long the repaired system will last or if it will need additional repair or service and the time frame, meaning sometimes we cannot replace a system because the system needs to be ordered and the client called for emergency service on the weekend and we need to first repair the system sometimes temporarily and then consider the facts relevant to replacing the unit to a new one.
A new air conditioning unit is usually a big expense, especially in commercial buildings. There are times that the system needs to be replaced in a commercial building and the system is so expensive that the owner cannot carry the cost of a new system so we help him to get more time and repair the system even though in the long run it may cost him more. Also in commercial HVAC systems, replacing and installing a new air condition and heating systems is kind of like a project. Most of the time the unit and additional parts to connect the unit need to be ordered in order to fit the roof opening or bracket of any old existing HVAC unit and so replacement is not something that you can do on the same day. In addition, for HVAC top roof systems we need to schedule a crane that will remove the old HVAC unit and will pick up the new HVAC top unit from the ground and put it on the roof, which sometimes is a few floors up from the ground level.
Commercial new systems are much more complicated and expensive to install and sometimes we would rather go with repairs. In a home, air conditioning and heater systems are much more simple and affordable and we can work things out with the owner according to his budget to decide if he wants to repair the A/C unit or install a new one.
