You cannot increase the efficiency of your HVAC higher than the manufacturer’s design. However, there are a a few things you can do in order to keep it close to maximum efficiency.
- Program your thermostat according to your schedule. When you are not at home or asleep, you can reduce costs by using less heating or cooling.
- Adjust the temperature of your thermostat either around 5 degrees lower in the winter of 5 degrees higher in the summer.
- Perform regular maintenance in your HVAC unit. Maintaining and checking your system prior to each spring and fall will help keep your heating and cooling at maximum efficiency.
- Do not block the vents so that circulation flows freely.
